What We Do

Medical Services

ABBA, Women’s Choice, provides medical services to abortion-minded women in the Portland community. The center provides pregnancy testing, limited obstetric ultrasounds, and limited STI testing and treatment with medical professionals and additional client advocates to provide assistance and options counseling during their appointments. Through these services, ABBA can give hope to women who are experiencing unplanned pregnancies.

Pregnancy Testing

When a woman is experiencing pregnancy symptoms, ABBA, Women’s Choice confirms her pregnancy through free pregnancy testing. The center’s medical professionals meet with women to discuss their symptoms, administer pregnancy testing, and answer any questions about their pregnancy.

Limited Ultrasound

After a woman has a confirmed pregnancy, she is eligible for a free, limited ultrasound at ABBA, Women’s Choice, to determine the gestational age and viability of their pregnancy. Medical Centers, like ABBA, have seen 90% of women wanting an abortion choose to keep their baby after seeing them on an ultrasound.

STI Testing/Treatment

ABBA, Women’s Choice provides testing and treatment for gonorrhea and chlamydia for women in the community. Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) can have long-lasting effects on women and their babies if left untreated. Staff provide information regarding sexual health and relationships.

Options Counseling

Women who come to ABBA, Women’s Choice, may believe they are pregnant or have had their pregnancy previously confirmed by self-testing or another health care provider. From client advocates to medical staff, women are provided with current, factual information regarding all options available to them for their pregnancy: abortion, parenting, or making an adoption plan.

Parenting/Mentoring Program

ABBA, Women’s Choice supports women who choose life through parenting and mentoring programs. These classes provide women with support and encouragement by teaching life skills, setting goals, and providing essential items through redeeming points at the Boutique.

Post-Abortive Support

Approximately 1 million abortions occur each year—one million women who made a decision that will impact them for the rest of their lives. ABBA, Women’s Choice, wants women to find emotional and spiritual healing for their abortion decision. The Post Abortion Recovery program, either in a group or individual setting, consists of 10 weeks of sessions to move past the guilt, shame, and hurt to find the love and forgiveness the Lord can provide. If you, or someone you know, needs to find healing from a past abortion, contact ABBA for more information.

Learn and Earn

At ABBA, Women’s Choice, women who have decided to parent their child are supported through parenting education sessions on health, safety, and relationships. As women participate in these sessions, they earn points that they can redeem at ABBA’s Baby & Mom Boutique or for gift cards at local stores.

SEEN – Birth Moms

This program provides support and guidance to birth mothers who have opted for adoption for their unborn child.

Other Programs

Portland Lifeguard

The Portland LifeGuard Sexual Health program offers various studies about building and maintaining healthy relationships. The curriculum is designed for sessions with “tweens” (ages 9-12), teens (13-19), and adults (20 and over).

The Gift of Time

Some women may have to experience the loss of an adverse prenatal diagnosis, which will take the life of their preborn or newborn baby. ABBA, Women’s Choice provides a bridge of support for women who, even after the diagnosis, do not medically terminate their pregnancy.

TAPP

The Teen Accountability Pregnancy and Parenting Program (TAPP) is offered to pregnant girls ages 12 – 17 who decide to parent. Girls participate in mentoring sessions and participate in the Learn & Earn program and Portland Lifeguard program.

MomCheck

MomCheck is a single-mom mentoring program for women with children over 12 months of age. Experienced mothers come alongside single mothers to provide encouragement and guidance and help set goals for themselves and their families (spiritually, emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially). In addition, they introduce them to a network of other single mothers for support and provide community resources.

Explore Your Spirituality

Every client has the choice to learn more about a relationship with the Lord. At ABBA, Women’s Choice, women can enroll in Bible studies to learn more about their personal relationship with God and how to apply His principles to their daily situations. Contact ABBA to find out more.
